( 3 / 214 )There have been two legionella out breaks in as many months the latest being Stoke on Trent.
I have contacted the various manufacturers and suppliers for information regarding this terrible virus and consensus of opinion is there is a very low risk of Legionella in standard split system style air conditioning; this is mainly an issue with large industrial systems that use Cooling Towers.
Each system should however be regally maintained and the drain-trays should be kept clear and clean to prevent any bacteria build-up, The condensation from cooling is removed from the system during operation under normal circumstances so there is no stagnant water which is where legionaella is usually an issue.
As a precaution during maintenance visit tablets can be dropped in to the drain tray to help prevent bacteria growth or odours.
PRA now use these tablets as a matter of routine during maintenance visits.

We would like to thank Sunshine Radio for their off the cuff plugs as we were installing new air conditioning in their studios. Sunshine can be heard across Worcestershire and Herefordshire and on Capital One Birmingham.
Paul had a bit of a head scratcher when designing an installation for a conservatory Sir was very keen Madam wasn’t. The look of the air conditioning was very important as was the size as it was a relatively small conservatory 8 x 10 but thanks to the Daikin Nexura it was a perfect match and all is now bliss in that particular household.
Pauls off to the ‘smoke’ tomorrow he will be good and early to beat the traffic and out early to beat it on the way home. A couple of air conditioning quotes to be done, a maintenance to be carried out for one of our clients and a service call to the gym, can’t see him working out anything except the price.

After a hectic day in the office an out of hours call from a TV crew filming none other than 'The Hustle' in the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham. So bright and early next morning Paul our trusty engineer entered stage left with the part they needed for their air conditioning unit.
Some people get all the luck I did ask if he could get autographs, especially Robert Glenister and Adrian Lester.

( 3 / 379 )The long awaited Government announcement on RHI released by Department of Energy and Climate Change in March.
Phase 1 – Providing long term tariff support for renewable heat technologies in the non-domestic sector and not as expected for the domestic sector.
Phase 2 commencing from October 2012. Air Source have not been included as the DECC claim more cost/benefit analysis is required.
The government is introducing Renewable Heat Premium Payments for the domestic sector.
A fund of approximately £15m has been allocated to enable payments to be made to households that install renewable heating systems. These payments will include air source heat pumps, the proposed premium for these is £850.00.
Objectives of the scheme
1) start July 2011
2) Support up to 25,000 Renewable heat installations in the domestic sector.
3) to provide a fair spread of technologies across all regions of GB
4) develop a monitoring process to allow stakeholders to understand and get the most of renewable energies.
5) key focus on-off grid properties
6) provide clear eligibility criteria including well insulated homes ased on Energy Performance Certificate (EPC)
